What’s Giving Tuesday?

We are officially entering the holiday season.  We love this time of year! Like most of you, we eat too much but enjoy spending time with family.  Thanksgiving and Christmas are times of giving and thankfulness.  It seems that in our culture, it has become a time of extreme spending as well.  Last year from Thanksgiving Day through the following Monday, we spent a lot of money.

Holiday shoppers spent $10.8 billion on Cyber Monday, in 2020. This was a 15.1% increase from a year 2019, setting a record for the largest U.S. online shopping day ever.

However, since 2012 the Tuesday following Thanksgiving has been deemed as Giving Tuesday.  Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving.  Experts predict that $3.048 Billion will be raised on Giving Tuesday 2021. This will be a 27%, or $648 million increase over 2020’s record-breaking $2.4 Billion.

What We’re Giving For

We have a fantastic opportunity this Giving Tuesday, December 3rd. We are partnering with two missionaries that we support from Thailand, the Salmons and the Gohs, to help improve their ministries and help reach people with the Gospel.

The Salmons are raising funds to purchase a van. Being so personally involved with their ministry, having a van allows them to transport people to church and camps, assist with visiting missions trips, and be the hands and feet of Jesus to people! This van will be an absolute game-changer.

The Gohs are raising money to improve the school they run. They want to install a High-Volume Low-Speed (HVLS) fan in their assembly hall, get desktop computers for their computer lab for their students, and get laptops for their teachers.

This Giving Tuesday is so special because we are going on a mission trip in January to see these missionaries where they serve in Thailand!

You can donate on Tuesday, December 3rd, and give toward this beautiful project.  If you cannot give online, you may put your special gift in the offering on December 1st or December 8th.
